| /////Welcome
to the art room web-site. I have enjoyed teaching and learning here at
Twin Valley High School on and off (I was off for 10 years to raise my children
when they were small) since 1973. /////My enjoyment of the creative process and the exploration of new media are what keep me going. I have a BA in art history from Windham College, an MA in creativity and art education from Vermont College. I have studied metalsmithing at the The Penland School and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and painting at Art New England, Bennington College. I have also studied the creative process with Betty Edwards, Alex Grey, Judith Cornell, Julia Cameron, Aviva Gold and Peter London. I have taken courses in bookmaking, ceramics, sculpture and photography. Some of my own students have been my best teachers. I was awarded a UVM Teacher of the Year Award in 1996. /////Being a teacher allows me to benefit from summers spent learning news techniques to share with my students while exploring the globe. I visited China as a teaching ambassador with the Experiment in International Living in 2001 and with the American Crafts Council in 1980. I traveled to Bali, Indonesia in 2000 to explore the spirit of art and creativity there and to Oaxaca Mexico for the third time in 1999 as part of a teacher learning and exchange program. I have traveled to Europe on several occasions, leading a student trip to Italy in 2000. I have shared my love of travel with my students through the AACE program and yearly travel to China, since 2004. /////My most recent work illustrates an exploration of and fascination with process. The heartwork series which began as studio warm up techniques has evolved into a theme incorporating a wide variety of media. |
